Weekly message

from our Pastor

Friends in Christ, this Sunday, the  Gospel tells the story of the workers in the vineyard (Matthew 20:1-16). Some worked all day, others just an hour, but everyone received the same wage. At first glance, this seems unfair to those who put in more hours, and most of us can relate to their frustration.

We live in a world where hard work is supposed to be rewarded, and fairness means getting what you deserve. But Jesus uses this parable to turn our idea of fairness upside down, revealing that God’s generosity doesn’t follow our rules. God’s love and mercy are not a reward for effort, but a gift freely given to all, regardless of when or how they come to Him.

This is a challenge for us. Sometimes we compare ourselves to others or resent it when we think someone is more blessed. Sometimes we judge who is worthy of God’s kindness. But God invites us to let go of envy and resentment, to open our hearts to His generosity and celebrate the blessings He pours out on everyone. There is enough grace for each of us, and in God’s vineyard, all are welcome, and all are loved.
