This Sunday's Gospel reading (Matthew 21:28-32) recounts the parable of the two sons. Jesus tells of a father who asks his two sons to work in the vineyard. The first son initially refuses but later changes his mind and goes. The second son agrees but never goes. Jesus uses this story to emphasize the importance of authentic action over mere words.

This parable invites us to reflect on the sincerity of our response to God. It is easy to say the right things and make promises, but what matters most is whether we carry out God’s will in our lives. Like the first son, we may sometimes hesitate or resist what God asks of us, but what counts is our willingness to change our hearts and follow through.

Jesus also confronts the religious leaders, showing that those considered outsiders—tax collectors and prostitutes—entered the kingdom of God ahead of them because they repented and believed. This powerfully reminds us that God values conversion and humility over outward appearances or status.
